Cedars School Sports College

Hello and welcome.

We are an all-age school for children with Special Educational Needs aged 5-16 years and, through close links with our neighbouring mainstream secondary school, Joseph Swan, can offer the opportunity for our pupils to remain in education for a further 2 years post-16 where this is felt to be appropriate.

We specialise in providing a 'whole-child' education for children and young people with physical needs, sensory difficulties, speech and language disorders, and those with complex needs, including emotional vulnerability.

At present we cater for 92 pupils.

Every child deserves the finest educational opportunities; we provide this - plus a huge range of extra activities. Our focus is on the positive. We want every child to be happy, secure, and to achieve, and to gain self-confidence through achievement. This may come via sporting, creative, educational or social opportunities.

We focus on the individual needs of every child, working in close liaison with their parents or carers. A high adult: pupil ratio at school helps facilitate individual care and progress.

The Cedars enjoys links with many other mainstream schools and colleges. Our very active and supportive Governing body involve themselves on a daily basis with the school, in order to guide the progress of the school.

We are proud to be a Sports College, to hold Artsmark Gold (for the third time), and the Impetus Award. We are also a Healthy School and a Fairtrade School.
